'SKIPPY' - A Skipping Popper that any predatory fish would struggle to pass up!
With a bright silver and blue body and detailed chrome sticker, this is a good imitation for Piper, Garfish or Saury baitfish.
This flies like a bullet and can be fished in a few ways:
-Cast and retrieve at high speed with a high rod tip to get the lure skipping and walking along the surface like a fleeing bait fish.
-Short jabs to work it like a pencil popper and get some bubbles and commotion going.
-Mid paced sweeps to get bubbles and a bit of skipping/ swimming.
I tend to fish it in this sequence: Cast, 2x sharp jabs, high stick fast retrieve half way back to the boat then a mix of sweeps and long pauses for the remainder. The pause is usually when the kingfish will hit it.
Lure sizes, specs and recommended rigging:
-200mm-50g. 2/0 trebles 5/0 BKK Diablos, 4/0 Ringed or assist Kudako.
-240mm-100g. 4/0 trebles 9/0 BKK Diablos, 6/0 Ringed or assist Kudako.
-280mm-130g. 5-6/0 trebles 11/0+ BKK Diablos, 7/0+ Ringed or assist Kudako.
*Alternatively, you can run them with one large treble or single on the tail for the best skipping action.
